Introduction
One of the best way to learn and practise composition is by using collage techniques. Gather newspapers, magazines and your old glue stick and you’re ready to go.
You are probably thinking about a collage you did in kindergarten right now and that is exactly the point. Back to basic.
What is Collage / Kolaj?
A collage is a single artwork, but made up of various materials or various pieces of other media. A collage is unique or unusual in form, usually unrealistic, and therefore eye-catching.
You can make a collage by taking pieces of paper and gluing them together, by assembling or mixing various materials to make a new form, or by arranging or merging printed text, drawings, illustrations, photographs or digital images to make a multimedia artwork.
Why Collage?
One of the main reason I’m teaching collage is to bring back the memory of childhood.

Design Elements
In any forms of design fundamentals, what is the most important elements is the composition. Composition used to describe the arrangement of visual elements.
Layering
We practise composition in daily routine from the way we organize things until the way we see it as essential parts of our life.
Compositing
A collage is a single artwork, but made up of various materials or various pieces of other media. A collage is unique or unusual in form, usually unrealistic, and therefore eye-catching.
Final Composition
With collage, viewers are able to see an interesting perspective of objects and might also see the artist's statement about a topic or issue.
How to create Collage?
Creating collage is not just specifically focus in design, but it’s more on understanding basic composition fundamental that we are creating without relying to computerized software/ apps.

Learning outcome
You will learn the fundamentals of composition design using combinations of paper and mixed media.
The use of collages serves different purposes in the design process. A collage can aid in determining the colour palette of the product ideas and concepts
Through this session, students will getting familiar again to use their own hands without relying on technology. In addition this handy workshop will be an advantages point for them to create digital work on computer software.
